One too many beers, five too many cigarettes plus one very long, hot bike ride in the merciless sun of midday equals me with a nasty sore throat.
Nonetheless, yesterday was good. Well, aside from the 2 hour DUI class featuring a story about a kid who killed some other kids when he smashed into the back of their car and it exploded, and which ended with a pro-Christian message: the fathers of the two dead boys talking about how glad they were that their sons had 'accepted Jesus' at some point in their lives, and how much they looked forward to meeting them again in the afterlife. One father said it was only his faith as a Christian that kept him from being bitter and hateful about the death of his son.
I'm considering writing and complaining to whoever is in charge of this...'school' or whatever (can't think of the word, arg!) that I think it's inappropriate to being showing that sort of thing in a state mandated class.
But after the class...well, there was the drama with the hit-and-run...but after that there was the bike ride to Stanford, which actually kind of fun, if a bit on the warm side. On the way back I picked up some organic liquid fertilizer for the plants, and then stopped at PetCo and got kitty toys. And when I got home there were people and I got into some very interesting discussions about books and writers and philosophers and it was all very much fun.
But I did smoke a bit too much, and have one too many beers, and stay up rather too late, and now I have a sore throat. Yucky... |
